Charges Dropped Against Bailey Zimmerman After Hotel Incident and Apology

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Charges have been dropped against country singer Bailey Zimmerman after he was accused of causing $16,000 in damage to a hotel room in Albuquerque.

Zimmerman faced federal and misdemeanor charges after hotel staff reported damage to a television, phone, coffee table, two chairs, as well as marks on the walls and stains on the carpet. The hotel also claimed Zimmerman charged more than $400 in alcohol to his room that went unpaid, according to reports from TMZ and Billboard.

The Bernalillo County District Attorney’s Office told KRQE that the case was dismissed after Zimmerman paid full restitution.

Zimmerman was scheduled to perform at the Sandia Resort and Casino on May 27. TMZ reported that authorities noticed Zimmerman appeared intoxicated during soundcheck, stumbling and acting aggressively, and throwing stage equipment. Zimmerman left the soundcheck, returned to the hotel and canceled the concert. Hotel staff said he was ultimately evicted for his behavior and called police when he refused to leave.

In a statement provided to Billboard, Zimmerman apologized to the Pueblo of Sandia, Sandia Resort & Casino staff, and his fans. He said, “I never meant for any of this to come across as disrespectful. I am deeply sorry for my actions that transpired. I respect your community and the hospitality and appreciate the opportunity that was given to me to perform on Native Land. I take full accountability for everything that happened and I am sorry to anyone who feels hurt or disrespected.”

Zimmerman also addressed his fans who bought tickets, saying, “I understand that being a musician comes with big responsibilities, both on and off stage, and I know that I fell short that day. I am reflecting on the disappointment and concern that I caused.”

He said he is taking the legal matter seriously and is committed to learning from the incident.

Zimmerman’s next concert is scheduled for Thursday, June 25, at the Country Drive Music Festival in Ashland, Nebraska.
