Hot 10 Recap – Week of 5/23/26

NEW YORK — Country breakout star Ella Langley secured the top two spots on the Billboard Hot 100 dated May 23, powered by the continued momentum of “Choosin’ Texas” at No. 1 and “Be Her” at No. 2.

“Choosin’ Texas” has become a defining crossover hit for Langley, blending traditional country storytelling with a modern radio-friendly hook that continues to resonate across streaming platforms and country radio. The Alabama native’s rise has marked one of the year’s biggest success stories in country music, with “Be Her” giving her a rare simultaneous hold on the chart’s top two positions.

British soul singer Olivia Dean continued her breakout moment with two songs inside the top five. “Man I Need” climbed to No. 3, while “So Easy to Fall In Love” landed at No. 5. Dean’s emotionally grounded songwriting and retro-inspired production have steadily expanded her audience beyond the United Kingdom and into mainstream American pop markets.

At No. 4, Bruno Mars maintained his strong chart presence with “I Just Might,” while his second entry, “Risk It All,” appeared at No. 8. Mars has remained one of pop music’s most reliable hitmakers, and the dual-chart showing underscores his continued commercial staying power more than a decade after his breakthrough.

Singer-songwriter Alex Warren reached No. 6 with “Ordinary,” a reflective pop ballad that has gained traction through streaming playlists and social media engagement. Warren, who first built an online audience through digital content creation, has increasingly established himself as a viable mainstream music artist.

Pop star Olivia Rodrigo landed at No. 7 with “Drop Dead,” continuing her streak of emotionally charged hits that blend pop-rock influences with confessional lyricism. Rodrigo remains one of the defining voices among younger pop audiences, with the single drawing significant streaming numbers in its latest chart week.

R&B artist Kehlani held the No. 9 position with “Folded,” a smooth, introspective track that has become a consistent streaming performer. The song adds to Kehlani’s catalog of emotionally candid releases that have helped maintain a loyal fan base.

Rounding out the top 10 was “Dracula” by psychedelic music project Tame Impala and BLACKPINK member Jennie. The collaboration blends moody synth production with atmospheric vocals, giving both artists another major crossover moment between alternative and global pop audiences.

The latest Hot 100 reflects a diverse chart landscape, with country, pop, R&B and alternative acts all competing for mainstream attention as streaming and social media continue shaping listening habits across genres.
