Ohio State Unveils Updated Football Uniforms and 2026 Schedule

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State will update its traditional scarlet and gray football uniforms for the 2026 season, the university announced this week.

The Buckeyes revealed new striping for both home and away jerseys. The home uniforms will feature gray and white stripes with black outlines on the shoulders, replacing the previous black, white, and red design. The away jerseys will have a gray and scarlet pattern, also outlined in black.

Athletic director Ross Bjork said the new uniforms, which add metallic silver “Buckeye Stripe” sleeves, reflect Ohio State’s commitment to building a strong national brand.

The gray helmet stripe will remain unchanged. Each uniform will display a block O symbol on the front collar, which the university said stands for strength, pride and spirit. The inside collar now features a new “festoon” design, inspired by the architecture of Ohio Stadium.

Earlier this week, Ohio State also unveiled a new black alternate uniform called “Tunnel Vision.” It uses striping elements similar to the updated scarlet and white jerseys.

The Buckeyes will choose their uniforms on a game-by-game basis during the 2026 season, which starts Sept. 5 against Ball State in Columbus.

Two kickoff times are set. Ohio State will play at Texas on Sept. 12 at 7:30 p.m. The annual Michigan game at Ohio Stadium is scheduled for noon on Nov. 28.
