Stevie Nicks Makes Met Gala Debut with Sabrina Carpenter and Hints at New Album

NEW YORK — Stevie Nicks performed with pop singer Sabrina Carpenter at the Met Gala on May 4, marking her first appearance at the annual fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute.

Nicks, 77, and Carpenter sang “Landslide,” a song from Fleetwood Mac’s 1975 album. Nicks continued with solo performances of “Gypsy” and “Edge of Seventeen,” and ended her set with “Don’t Stop” from the album “Rumours.” For the final song, Carpenter returned to the stage and a 12-piece choir joined the artists.

Other musicians at the 2026 Met Gala included Madonna, Beyoncé, Rihanna and Katy Perry.

Nicks said last year she is working on a new album, her first collection of new songs since “In Your Dreams” in 2011.

“I have seven songs, and they are autobiographical, real stories where I’m not pulling any punches for probably the first time in my life,” Nicks said. “They’re not airy fairy songs where you’re wondering who they’re about but you don’t really get it. They’re real stories of memories of mine of fantastic men.”

Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins recently said he helped introduce “Landslide” to a new generation. Corgan described covering the song for a BBC radio session in the 1990s, after a suggestion from Courtney Love.

“I’m on the phone with Courtney circa 1994,” Corgan said on his podcast. “She says, ‘Make sure you do a cover. They love that.’ I go through my records, pick out Fleetwood Mac, and find ‘Landslide.’ Never been a single, wasn’t considered a classic, wasn’t played on the radio. We put it out on a B-sides record and it became a hit. After that, Stevie Nicks called to thank me for the publishing money. Since then, it’s been a hit four times over. She wrote it; it’s a brilliant song. But I cracked the code on the thing.”
