Buc-ee’s Opens First Ohio Location, Second Site Under Consideration

HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio — Buc-ee’s opened its first Ohio location Monday in Huber Heights, off State Route 235 just north of Interstate 70. The Texas-based travel center, which was originally scheduled to open in fall 2025, experienced delays before opening this week.

A second Buc-ee’s location is under consideration in Mansfield, at the interchange of Interstate 71 and State Route 39.

Last month, Mansfield Mayor Jodie Perry announced that a petition for annexation had been approved by the Richland County commissioners. The commissioners said Buc-ee’s would develop about 35 acres of the 110 acres annexed from Madison Township, as well as two acres annexed from Mifflin Township.

The commissioners noted that the property still needs to be purchased and that a draft agreement is in progress. It is not yet clear when construction would begin or when the travel center could open to the public.

Buc-ee’s, which began in the early 1980s, is known for its large number of gas pumps, brisket, jerky, beaver-themed merchandise, and its emphasis on clean restrooms.
