SEVENTEEN’s Joshua Praises Success of ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ at Golden Globes

LOS ANGELES — SEVENTEEN’s Joshua says the animated film “KPop Demon Hunters” has opened “new doors” for K-pop, calling its unprecedented success “incredible.”

Speaking to Billboard on the red carpet at the 2026 Golden Globes on Sunday, Joshua said he is “really happy” about the impact of the Netflix film, which premiered in June 2025 and quickly became the platform’s most streamed title of all time.

“I can’t believe it got this big,” Joshua said. “‘KPop Demon Hunters’ is opening up new doors for K-pop.”

The film’s soundtrack has also seen significant chart success. The single “Golden” held the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for eight weeks and won the Golden Globe for best original song on Sunday.

During her acceptance speech, EJAE — a member of the fictional girl group HUNTR/X and co-writer of “Golden” — said, “It’s a dream come true to be part of a song that’s helping others get through their hardships and accept themselves. It’s never too late to shine like you were born to be.”

The Golden Globes took place during a break in SEVENTEEN’s New world tour, which wrapped up 2025 with shows in Japan. The tour, which supports the group’s album “Happy Burstday,” is set to resume Feb. 28 in China. “Happy Burstday” peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. In the meantime, members DK and Seungkwan released a joint mini album, “Serenade,” on Monday.

Joshua also shared that, while he is looking forward to future SEVENTEEN projects, he is interested in pursuing acting, particularly in a sitcom. “I grew up watching that,” he said.

Asked about his viewing habits, Joshua said he plans to watch the trending series “Heated Rivalry,” after recommendations from fans. He met the show’s stars, Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie, backstage at the Globes.
