Whole Foods Market is reportedly planning to open a new location in Las Vegas. According to a recent market report from Cushman & Wakefield, the upscale grocery chain has leased 33,432 square feet in a shopping center on Tropical Parkway at Centennial Center Boulevard in the northwest valley. Landlord Kite Realty Group’s site plan for the plaza also indicates a Whole Foods store of the same size.
Multiple retail-focused real estate brokers in Southern Nevada have confirmed hearing about the deal. An investor presentation from Kite Realty shows that the space previously housed a Big Lots store, which closed after the retailer filed for bankruptcy protection last year.
During an earnings call in October, Kite Realty Group’s CEO John Kite referenced the strategy of bringing premium grocers into spaces formerly occupied by retailers like Big Lots and Bed Bath & Beyond as a positive move for the company.
Neither Whole Foods Market nor Kite Realty Group has publicly commented on the new location. Currently, Whole Foods operates four stores in Southern Nevada, with the most recent opening this past spring in Summerlin after relocating from another nearby center.
