Hot Hits Weekend Best Bets – 12/5-12/7/2025

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — From dazzling lights to live theater, downtown markets to pop culture conventions, Central Ohio has plenty in store this weekend as the holiday season ramps up.

Big Convention Weekend: Fans Flock to GalaxyCon and More
The city’s spotlight is on GalaxyCon Columbus, a major three-day fan convention running Dec. 5–7 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. The event features celebrities, panels, cosplay, gaming, and fan-driven events that draw sci-fi, fantasy, anime and pop-culture fans from across the region.

On Friday night, the convention will also host Final Battle (2025) — the flagship wrestling show presented by Ring of Honor (ROH) — giving attendees a high-energy mix of fandom and live entertainment.

Holiday Spirit, Lights, and Family Fun
For those looking for seasonal cheer, downtown’s Wanderlights returns with its festive display of more than half a million lights, offering a magical stroll through areas like Columbus Commons, Town Street, and the Scioto Mile Fountain. Evening trolley rides, hot chocolate, carousel rides and holiday-movie screenings add to the charm.

Meanwhile, the Winterfair Columbus begins Friday at the Bricker Building of the Ohio Expo Center and runs through Sunday — a three-day craft and gift fair showcasing handmade art, gourmet goods, and live demonstrations by over 350 artists and artisans.

Families and science-lovers can also head to COSI for its “Season of Celebrations” holiday makeover, complete with a Forest of Community Trees, interactive décor, and themed exhibits.

Music, Theater and Live Performance Options
For fans of live performance, the Columbus Symphony presents its annual Holiday Pops concerts at the Ohio Theatre — Friday at 8 p.m., with matinee performances Saturday and Sunday at 3 p.m. The holiday-themed concerts feature choirs, children’s ensembles and special guest vocalists, and the Symphony is partnering with a local toy drive for the holidays.

For a different musical vibe, the weekend also offers local holiday-themed shows such as RAIN – A Beatles Christmas Tribute on Saturday evening and an acoustic holiday concert by Over The Rhine — giving a range of options from classical to contemporary.

A Bit of Everything — Whether You Want Lights, Crafting, or Pop Culture
Whether you’re looking for bright lights, holiday markets, live performances or geeky fandom, Columbus this weekend offers something for nearly everyone. As the city moves into the holiday season, the mix of tradition and pop-culture fun underscores Columbus’s growing reputation as a destination for both community celebrations and eclectic entertainment.
