Wayfair to Open First Ohio Store in Columbus Area in 2026

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Wayfair plans to open its first brick-and-mortar furniture store in Ohio in late 2026, the company announced Nov. 6.

The approximately 70,000-square-foot store will be located at 1552 Gemini Place, near Interstate 71 and Polaris Fashion Place. This Columbus location will serve as Wayfair’s first prototype for a smaller-format retail model, which the company said is intended to test new approaches to in-person shopping.

“As we scale our retail strategy, we are focused on both expansion and experimentation,” Liza Lefkowski, Wayfair vice president of merchandising and stores, said in a statement. “Not only are we thrilled to open our first Ohio store, we are excited to see how customers respond to our efforts to provide a comprehensive home shopping experience in a smaller footprint.”

The Columbus store follows Wayfair’s first retail opening in Illinois and joins previously announced locations in Georgia, New York and Colorado. Despite its smaller size, the company said the Polaris-area store will offer a broad selection of products, including furniture, housewares, appliances, mattresses and décor.

Wayfair will use the Columbus location to evaluate how a smaller store format affects customer engagement and operational efficiency, according to the company. Many products will be available for immediate purchase, while larger items such as sofas, dining sets and outdoor furniture will be delivered through the company’s logistics network.

Franz Geiger, managing director of NP Limited, the developer of Polaris, said in a statement that Wayfair’s addition will benefit the community.

“Wayfair is a best-in-class retailer, and we’re proud to have them backfill one of our most prominent and important locations,” Geiger said. “They’ll be a fantastic addition to our community.”
