A single-engine Cessna 172 made an emergency landing on Interstate 15 near Jean, Nevada, on Saturday afternoon, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol and the Metropolitan Police Department. The incident occurred just before 3 p.m. at mile marker 13, with an instructor pilot and student trainee on board. Authorities report that no injuries resulted from the landing, which was prompted by mechanical problems with the aircraft.
As a result of the emergency landing, all northbound lanes of I-15 were diverted at the Jean exit, and traffic into Las Vegas was rerouted onto State Route 604. Traffic cameras showed significant congestion in the area late Saturday afternoon.
