Las Vegas Raises City Parking Rates by One Dollar and Expands Free Arts District Parking Hours

Las Vegas has increased the price of on-street parking by $1 an hour at city-managed facilities, marking the first adjustment to parking fees since 2019. This change, which took effect October 13, follows a market-rate analysis and, according to the city, still keeps rates below market averages.

City-managed parking meters now range from $2 to $4 per hour, depending on location. Downtown surface parking lots operated by the city (but owned by various property owners) also saw a $1 per hour increase, with new rates between $2 and $6 per hour—most lots falling between $2 and $4. Monthly permit rates for city-operated garages and select lots will be adjusted starting with the November billing cycle.

The city has expanded the free Lunch Spot parking program in the 18B Las Vegas Arts District, now allowing free parking Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Despite this expanded free parking window, the 18b Arts District Association expressed concern in an open letter, stating the increased rates place an additional burden on the Arts District. The letter points out that major resort operators in the Las Vegas Valley have recently reduced or suspended parking fees for locals, making the city’s price hike “stand in stark contrast” to efforts to make downtown more accessible and competitive. The association is calling for a moratorium on all paid parking in the Arts District through January 1.
