Columbus, Ohio — Residents of Central Ohio are gearing up for a weekend packed with events and activities scheduled from Friday, Oct. 24 through Sunday, Oct. 26, 2025. Organizers and city officials are encouraging participation while emphasizing safety and community spirit.
Halloween Festivities Lead the Weekend
With Halloween approaching, neighborhoods across Columbus are hosting a variety of themed events. The city’s annual High Street Halloween Parade will return Friday at 7 p.m., featuring costumed participants, local marching bands and floats from area businesses. Organizers expect crowds to line the parade route from the Short North to the Ohio Statehouse.
Trick-or-treating will take place in most Columbus neighborhoods Saturday evening from 6 to 8 p.m., according to city officials. Residents are encouraged to use reflective gear and supervise children. Police Chief Elaine Bryant said additional officers will be on patrol to ensure safety.
Arts, Culture and Sports
The Columbus Museum of Art will open its new “Innovators of the Midwest” exhibition Saturday morning, showcasing contemporary works by regional artists. Admission is free for children under 12 throughout the weekend.
Sports fans can look forward to a home game as the Ohio State Buckeyes face off against the Michigan State Spartans at Ohio Stadium on Saturday at noon. University officials anticipate heavy traffic around campus and advise fans to arrive early and use public transportation if possible.
Community and Family Events
The Franklin Park Conservatory is hosting its annual Harvest Festival, featuring pumpkin carving, food trucks and live music. The event runs both Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
On Sunday, the Columbus Metropolitan Library downtown branch will offer a “Spooky Storytime” for families at 2 p.m., followed by a costume contest.
Weather and Safety
The National Weather Service predicts mild temperatures in the mid-60s and mostly sunny skies throughout the weekend. Local health officials remind residents to monitor weather updates and dress appropriately, especially for outdoor events after sunset as temperatures are expected to cool.
Travel and Traffic
The city’s Department of Public Service warns of potential delays around event sites, particularly near the Short North and campus areas. Temporary road closures are expected during the parade and football game. Motorists are advised to consult the city’s website for maps and alternate routes.
City officials encourage residents and visitors to enjoy the wide array of offerings across Columbus and Central Ohio while following safety guidelines and being mindful of traffic and crowds.
