Just after 4 p.m. on Friday, Clark County Fire Department officials received reports of a man trapped in the Harmon Wash near Paradise Road in central Las Vegas. While searching for the man, rescuers found two women in distress in the same wash and successfully rescued them. However, fire department officials were unable to locate the man and suspended rescue operations just before 7:30 p.m.
Later, the reported adult male was spotted in swift-moving waters, but initial attempts to retrieve him from the flood control channel were unsuccessful, according to Clark County spokesperson Christine Crews. The search for the man is expected to continue Saturday morning.
Heavy rains from the remnants of Tropical Storm Priscilla caused flooding in the valley, disrupting events such as festivals and high school football games.
