John Stamos first performed with the Beach Boys 40 years ago, marking a milestone in both his own career and the band’s enduring legacy. He initially joined the group at their Fourth of July concert at the Washington Monument in 1985 and has since appeared with them intermittently as a drummer, guitarist, and occasional vocalist. Stamos’s appearances are special occasions, as he has not played with the band at their most recent runs at The Venetian or the Sunset Station Amphitheater in 2023, though he was present for their February 2019 show at The Smith Center’s Reynolds Hall.
Stamos played a significant role in bringing the Beach Boys to a broader television audience during his days on “Full House” and has appeared in numerous Beach Boys music videos, including the iconic “Kokomo.” He also directed the video for “Hot Fun In The Summertime.”
The Beach Boys’ current touring lineup is led by Mike Love and Bruce Johnston and includes Las Vegas guitarist John Wedemeyer and bassist Hubacher, formerly of “Jersey Boys.” Stamos, in a recent announcement, described the band’s music as “heart music,” saying it goes directly to the heart. The Beach Boys remain a major force on the road, performing between 150 and 180 shows each year. Stamos will join them for their upcoming shows at The Venetian Theatre on October 1, 3, and 4.
