Atomix, the acclaimed Korean restaurant from New York City, has been named the No. 1 restaurant in North America and the best restaurant in the Northeastern U.S. for 2025, according to North America’s 50 Best Restaurants. The announcement was made at an awards ceremony held at Wynn Las Vegas.
Atomix is celebrated for its innovative 12-course tasting menu, served on custom ceramics with each course accompanied by a card detailing the dish’s inspiration, origin, and ingredients. Chef Junghyun Park, who co-owns the restaurant with his wife, Ellia Park, expressed gratitude to his team, his parents in Korea, and his wife during his acceptance speech.
The 2025 ceremony marked the first time 50 Best has recognized North America as a separate region, encompassing the U.S., Canada, and parts of the Caribbean. The 50 Best list is curated from the votes of a 300-member academy made up of chefs, restaurateurs, journalists, educators, and experienced diners.
Rounding out the top five restaurants:
- Mon Lapin, Montreal (also Best Restaurant in east Canada)
- Restaurant Pearl Morissette, Lincoln (also Best Restaurant in central Canada)
- Smyth, Chicago (also Best Restaurant in the Midwest)
- Tanière3, Quebec City (also winner of the Art of Hospitality Award)
Other U.S. restaurants in the top 10 include Dakar Nola (New Orleans), Kalaya (Philadelphia), SingleThread (Healdsburg, California, also winner of the Sustainable Restaurant Award), Le Bernardin (New York City), and Le Veau d’Or (New York City).
Of the 50 awardees, 37 are from the U.S., mainly New York City and San Francisco, 11 from Canada, and two from the Caribbean, including Stush in the Bush in Jamaica.
Special awards included:
- Icon Award: Normand Laprise (Canada)
- Chef’s Choice Award: Michael Cimarusti (Providence, Los Angeles)
- Champions of Change Award: Asmeret Berhe-Lumax (One Love Community Fridge, New York City)
- North America’s Best Female Chef: Chutatip “Nok” Suntaranon (Kalaya)
- North America’s Best Sommelier: Vanya Filipovic (Mon Lapin)
- North America’s Best Pastry Chef: Susan Bae (Moon Rabbit, Washington, D.C.)
- One to Watch Award: Ladder 4 (Detroit)
The majority of honored chefs and owners wore red scarves during the ceremony. No Las Vegas restaurants made the top 50 for 2025.
