Louis Tomlinson Teases New Single, ‘Lemonade,’ Ahead of Third Album

Former One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson is ramping up promotion for his forthcoming third solo album. On Tuesday, Sept. 23, Tomlinson released a 15-second teaser for a new single, “Lemonade,” his first preview of the as-yet-untitled project.

The single, scheduled for release Tuesday, Sept. 30, features Tomlinson singing, “She’s so bitter, she’s so sweet/ Lemonade, lemonade/ A little taste is all I need/ Lemonade,” over an uptempo arrangement with driving drums. The teaser appears to include a clip from the accompanying music video, showing Tomlinson, sporting buzzed sides and longer hair on top, standing in a field in front of stacked speakers and a rusted car.

Tomlinson has been updating fans on progress for the follow-up to his 2022 album, “Faith in the Future.” Earlier this month, he posted on X that the new record is nearly complete. “Just sat listening to the new record and I’ve got a really, really good feeling this time around!” he wrote. “Can’t wait for you all to hear it!”

“Faith in the Future” included the singles “Bigger Than Me,” “Out of My System” and “Silver Tongues.” The album debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 and earned Tomlinson his first No. 1 on the UK albums chart.

As of Tuesday, no title or release date had been announced for Tomlinson’s third solo LP. Fans hope to hear new material soon, as Tomlinson hinted at debuting unreleased songs during upcoming performances. When a fan expressed frustration about the lack of information earlier this month, Tomlinson replied, “Or maybe I’m going to play something new at Away From Home,” and added, “It’s about time, isn’t it? Really, really excited about it! Got a few surprises. Should be fun.”

Tomlinson is among the headliners at the New York edition of his Away From Home Festival, set for Oct. 4-5 at Brewery Ommegang in Cooperstown. Other performers include Lauv, Steve Aoki, Plain White T’s, Daya, Circa Waves, Pale Waves and others. Tomlinson is also scheduled to perform as part of BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge Month on Oct. 29, where artists typically perform one original song and one cover.
