BTS fans can prepare for the group’s anticipated return next year with BTS Movie Weeks next month. On Wednesday, Aug. 20, the K-pop superstars announced a cinematic event featuring four of their concert films.
Movie Weeks will run in over 2,500 theaters across 65 countries and regions from Sept. 24 to Oct. 5. The screenings will include remastered versions of “Live 花樣年華 On Stage: Epilogue” (2016), “BTS 2017 Live Trilogy Episode III The Wings Tour The Final,” “BTS 2019 World Tour ‘Love Yourself: Speak Yourself’ London,” and “BTS 2021 Muster Sowoozoo.”
The 2016 and 2017 films will be shown during the first week, with the 2019 and 2021 movies following in the second week. A special all-day screening on Oct. 5 will feature back-to-back showings of all four films. Each film has been remastered in 4K with 5.1 channel surround sound. Tickets go on sale Aug. 27 at 9 a.m. ET.
In addition to the screenings, the event will include online and offline activities for ARMY, BTS’s dedicated fan base. Trafalgar Releasing CEO Marc Allenby stated, “We are proud to bring this unique festival event to cinemas worldwide in partnership with HYBE, celebrating BTS’s legendary live performances.”
The 2016 film, described as “the grand finale of [BTS’s] ‘The Most Beautiful Moment in Life’ series,” features performances of “Autumn Leaves,” “Butterfly,” “FIRE,” “Save ME,” and “EPILOGUE: Young Forever.”
The 2017 movie, 105 minutes long, includes performances of “Blood Sweat & Tears,” “DNA,” and “MIC Drop.” The 2019 film captures the group at their peak during their performance at London’s Wembley Stadium, while the 2021 “Muster Sowoozoo” chronicles a unique “FESTA” celebrating the band’s eighth anniversary with ARMY.
With all members having completed their mandatory South Korean military service, BTS is planning their return next year. In a livestream on July 1, the group announced a new album set for release next spring, following their recent live album, “Permission to Dance on Stage – Live.”
