Summerlin South Triumphs in Little League World Series Pitchers Duel: 1 Win Away from US Championship Game

In a rare pitchers’ duel at the Little League World Series, Summerlin South emerged victorious against Irmo, South Carolina, with a score of 1-0 in a seven-inning game at Lamade Stadium in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Summerlin South’s Jayden Lee broke up a no-hitter with a crucial single in the seventh inning. Cutter Ricafort then hit a single that was misplayed in right field, allowing Griffin Vargas to score from second base and secure the win.

Garrett Gallegos delivered an outstanding performance for Summerlin South, allowing only five hits and striking out 12 batters over 5⅓ innings. On the opposing side, Irmo’s Joe Giulietti was equally impressive, maintaining a six-inning no-hitter before reaching his pitch count limit and being replaced before the seventh inning.

Summerlin South, representing the Mountain Region, is set to face either the Metro or Midwest Region champion on Wednesday at noon. A victory in this game would advance them to the U.S. championship game on Saturday.
