Drake Intensifies Legal Battle with UMG Over Kendrick Lamar Contract Access

Drake’s legal dispute with Universal Music Group (UMG) has intensified as he requests full access to Kendrick Lamar’s recording contract and related documents. This move is part of his lawsuit concerning Lamar’s track “Not Like Us,” which Drake claims contains defamatory content supported by UMG for profit. He is seeking unredacted contract details, financial records, and any allegations of criminal activities involving Lamar to bolster his case. Drake alleges that UMG’s CEO, Sir Lucian Grainge, fostered competition between their respective divisions, Republic Records and Interscope, to enhance the song’s success. Additionally, Drake demands records of Interscope’s financials and UMG’s history with censoring defamatory content, suggesting the label had financial motives in not censoring the track. UMG has responded by attempting to dismiss the lawsuit, asserting that Drake instigated the rap conflict.
