Jelly Roll’s diverse list of collaborators includes Jessie Murph, Lainey Wilson, Kelly Clarkson, Post Malone, Lil Wyte, Shaboozey, K. Michelle, the Fisk Jubilee Singers, Cody Johnson, and Yelawolf, among others.
His upcoming collaboration will push the “Son of a Sinner” singer further out of his comfort zone with the release of the beat-infused track “Holy Water” with dance music producer Marshmello on Friday, Aug. 8.
On Tuesday, Aug. 5, the pair donned Marshmello’s signature white helmets for a brief preview video of the song. “Still slowly feel what you feel/ Two tears for the soul departed/ Pour out a little holy water,” Jelly sings over a mid-tempo beat in the clip, using his hands to express himself since his face is hidden.
Last week, Marshmello teased the project—referred to by some fans as “MarshJello” or “JellyMello”—with a photo of himself in his ‘Mello head on a private jet, holding another helmet featuring Jelly’s signature face tattoos. He followed this with another preview video in which only Marshmello wears the helmet, while Jelly jams out in the studio. The caption read, “We knew this one was special from the jump.”
Jelly responded in a comment, writing, “Absolutely honored brother.” This collaboration marks Marshmello’s latest venture into country music, following two collaborations with Kane Brown, “One Right Thing” and the Billboard Hot 100 No. 15 hit “Miles On It.”
