Clark County Launches $500,000 Grant Program for Struggling Small Businesses

Clark County is initiating a grant program to distribute $500,000 to small, locally owned businesses facing financial challenges in District D, which covers parts of Sunrise Manor and areas within Las Vegas and North Las Vegas. The program, introduced by County Commissioner William McCurdy II, will offer up to $5,000 for home-operated businesses and up to $10,000 for businesses with storefronts. The initiative aims to support these businesses during an economic slowdown and was timely given the recent temporary closure of Broadacres Marketplace due to concerns over Immigration and Customs Enforcement activities.

The grant is described as competitive, with funds distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. To qualify, businesses must have had an active local business license since at least July 1, 2024, employ fewer than 20 employees, and be free of tax liens. Certain businesses, including massage parlors, cannabis-related establishments, liquor stores, and adult-oriented venues, are not eligible. Eligible businesses must be located in District D but do not need to be members of the chambers of commerce managing the applications.

Applications are processed by the Las Vegas Urban Chamber of Commerce and the Nevada Latin Chamber of Commerce and are accessible at lvlcc.com and urbanchamber.org. McCurdy emphasized the importance of this initiative in supporting local businesses and noted that applications submitted early will be prioritized due to high demand.
