Caution, Recall Of Ritz Peanut Butter Crackers Over Allergy Mislabeling Concerns

Product recalls can be concerning, especially when they involve food items that may pose a risk to consumers with allergies. Recently, Mondelēz Global LLC announced a voluntary recall of certain Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches due to mislabeling issues. The recall affects several carton sizes, including 8-pack, 20-pack, and 40-pack cartons, as well as a 20-pack Ritz Filled Cracker Sandwich Variety Pack. Some individual packs may be mislabeled as the Cheese variety while containing the Peanut Butter variety instead.

This mislabeling poses a risk for individuals with peanut allergies, as consuming the mislabeled products could lead to severe allergic reactions. While all outer cartons are correctly labeled with an allergen advisory, the individual packs might not reflect this accurately.

The recall is precautionary, with no reported injuries or illnesses linked to the issue. It was initiated after discovering that the film packaging used for the peanut butter products might have defects due to a supplier error. Corrective actions are being taken to prevent recurrence.

Consumers are advised to check their products against the recall details, which include specific “Best When Used By” dates and UPC codes, to ensure safety. If you have any of the affected products and have a peanut allergy, it is best to discard them or return them for a refund. For further assistance, you can contact the company’s customer service.
