Nguyen Les Remarkable Comeback Clinches BetMGM Championship Victory

Nguyen Le achieved an impressive comeback to win the BetMGM Championship at Aria, securing his second major poker title. Down to a single chip with 11 players left, Le managed to rally and defeat Asish Ghosh in heads-up play. The final three players, including Yaniv Peretz, agreed to divide the remaining prize money, with Le taking home $777,777, Ghosh earning $752,282, and Peretz receiving $590,348.

The $3,500 buy-in tournament, in its fourth year, attracted 1,853 entries and exceeded its $3 million prize pool guarantee. Initially, the first-place prize was set to exceed $1 million before the top three players made their deal.

Le’s journey was almost cut short on Day 3 when he was left with just one chip after a hand against Hassan El Hakim. Despite this, he managed to double up multiple times and rebuild his chip stack, eventually leading when the final table began.

In the decisive hand against Ghosh, Le held top pair after the flop and made a crucial call to pick off a bluff. With this victory, Le’s career live tournament earnings now exceed $1.4 million. Earlier in the year, he had shared first place in the Borgata Winter Poker Open after making a deal during heads-up play.
