A recently released study by WalletHub has named Ohio as one of the top road trip destinations in the United States for summer travelers.
The study evaluated all 50 states based on three key categories: costs, safety, and activities. In the activities category, factors such as the number of national parks, zoos, and amusement parks per capita were considered.
Ohio ranked third overall, offering a variety of restaurants and accommodations. It also boasts the second-highest number of summer fairs and festivals in the nation, according to the study.
“Ohio ranks as the third-best state for summer road trips, excelling in the number of attractions available, particularly zoos, botanical gardens, and amusement parks,” the analysis states. “There are plenty of places to stop for a day or even just a few hours while on a road trip.”
Minnesota took the top spot, with the third-fewest vehicle fatalities per million miles traveled and relatively low hotel costs. The state was also fourth in spending on parks and recreation, making it ideal for outdoor enthusiasts, according to WalletHub.
The rest of the top 10 included New York at No. 2, Utah at No. 4, Louisiana at No. 5, Florida at No. 6, Idaho at No. 7, Texas at No. 8, North Carolina at No. 9, and Pennsylvania at No. 10.
