The Starbucks Global Barista Championship is set to take place in Las Vegas from June 9 to 11, as part of the company’s Leadership Experience conference. This event, paused during the COVID-19 pandemic, returns this year and will gather 14,000 Starbucks employees, known as partners.
The championship features 12 baristas competing in semifinals on June 9 and 10, with the top four advancing to the finals on June 11. Participants will be evaluated on their coffee storytelling, craft skills, and customer service. The competition began with 84,000 baristas globally.
Among the competitors is Victor from New York, who has been with Starbucks since 2014. Victor notably won the New York Roastery Barista Championship, a moment of personal pride shared with his mother.
The event will be live-streamed on the Starbucks YouTube channel in multiple languages for a global audience.
