Fired Former Police Chief Hollie Chadwick Enters Henderson Mayoral Race

Former Henderson Police Chief Hollie Chadwick has announced her candidacy for mayor of Henderson, challenging incumbent Michelle Romero. Chadwick, who was fired earlier this year by City Manager Stephanie Garcia-Vause, aims to focus on transparency, public safety, and support for local businesses and education. Despite her dismissal, which was not due to misconduct, Chadwick believes the campaign should be centered on merit rather than personal issues.

Chadwick, a Southern Nevada native with a long career in law enforcement, was Henderson’s first female police commander to oversee a SWAT team and became police chief in 2023. Her tenure saw some controversy, including a case where she reversed disciplinary measures against officers involved in misconduct. Despite this, she received praise from city officials, including Romero, for implementing significant changes in the department.

The police unions have not yet endorsed any candidate, emphasizing the importance of addressing staffing and compensation issues. Official filing for the mayoral race will open in 2026. Meanwhile, Romero, who won the 2022 mayoral race decisively, continues to work on city development projects and has secured endorsements from local organizations.
