Eminem’s stalker has been convicted of first-degree home invasion and aggravated stalking after breaking into the rapper’s home for a second time. Matthew David Hughes, 32, was found guilty on May 7, following a brief trial where Eminem provided testimony about the incident. Sentencing is set for June 17.
The latest break-in took place last summer, and Hughes was apprehended and jailed in Macomb County shortly after. During a preliminary hearing in December, Hughes was instructed to avoid any contact with Eminem. Unable to pay the $500,000 bail, Hughes remained in jail until the trial.
In the first incident in 2020, Eminem reported waking up to find Hughes standing behind him, who allegedly stated he was there to kill him. Hughes reached a plea deal at the time and was sentenced to five years of probation in September 2021. However, a subsequent arrest for simple assault in November violated his probation, resulting in jail time. He was released on parole in May, with the second break-in occurring months later.
Hughes had also been arrested in June 2019 after being found sleeping in the guest house of a home once owned by Eminem.
In other news, Eminem has become a grandfather. His daughter Hailie Jade recently announced the birth of her son, Evan Marshall McClintock, on Instagram on April 4. The middle name is a tribute to Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers.
Hailie shared the news with a caption celebrating her son’s arrival. Meanwhile, family friend 50 Cent expressed excitement about the news on social media, and Eminem’s adopted daughter Alaina praised Hailie for embracing motherhood.
