Doja Cat is responding to fan demand by releasing a track titled “Crack,” which she had previously previewed on Instagram Live in 2022. The song is set to be available for download on her website for one day only, Monday, May 5.
The track “Crack” did not make it onto Doja Cat’s 2023 album “Scarlet,” despite its popularity among fans. Explaining the decision, Doja Cat wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, “It’s not the lead. I’m just giving it to the people who asked for it.” She clarified that “Crack” is not associated with her upcoming “Vie” album.
In a recent TikTok comment, Doja Cat promised to release the song, and she followed through on Monday. The track showcases Doja Cat’s rapping skills over a dynamic production. One of the standout lines includes a nod to Sexyy Red.
In April, Doja Cat shared a 16-song tracklist for her forthcoming “Vie” album. Some of the titles include “Break My Heart,” “Take Me Dancing,” “Anything,” “Ain’t News,” “Slow Burn,” “Wood Holly,” “Did I Lie,” and “Appreciation.” Additionally, she previewed another unreleased track, “Jealous Type,” which has a pop-funk vibe.
The release date for the “Vie” album has not been announced, but 2025 is expected to be a significant year for the Grammy-winning artist. Earlier this year, Doja Cat collaborated with Jack Harlow on the song “Just Us,” which peaked at No. 57 on the Billboard Hot 100.
