Clark County Jury Awards Tipping Point Gaming $20 Million in Caesars Lawsuit Victory

A Clark County jury has awarded Tipping Point Gaming LLC a $20 million verdict against Caesars Entertainment for obstructing its market opportunities. Tipping Point, led by Sam Johnson, initially partnered with Caesars in 2014 to promote its slot-machine side-bet product. However, the relationship deteriorated when Caesars accused Tipping Point of intellectual property violations, leading to legal battles starting in 2018.

Despite an initial ruling in favor of Caesars, Tipping Point successfully appealed to the Nevada Supreme Court, resulting in a retrial. The jury awarded Tipping Point $15 million in compensatory damages for Caesars’ interference with a transaction involving Planet Bingo and an additional $5 million in punitive damages.

Johnson expressed satisfaction with the verdict, viewing it as a victory in a David-and-Goliath scenario. He lamented the missed opportunity to revolutionize the gaming industry due to the protracted legal struggle and the eventual closure of Tipping Point during the COVID-19 pandemic. Caesars has not commented on the verdict, citing pending litigation.
